My new favorite...

...tote! And talk about a recession beater - while I have a deep love for J.Crew, their madras tote (below) just can't compare. L.L. Bean offers three different sizes: mini (7inx7.5x5, $19), medium (12inx13x6, $25), and large (15inx17x7.5, $29), two shades of patchwork, extremely sturdy construction, monogramming for just $6, and a lifetime guarantee.

J. Crew? They offer one patchwork and one size for $68. It clocks in at 13x17x8, in between L.L. Bean's medium and large offerings, so you do the math!

Board No. 26: Opulent Pink and Navy

{Click image to enlarge!}

Today's board was inspired by the gorgeous mural in the top left corner. From there, I put the bride in a bright royal blue dress and the groom in a slim-fitting white dinner jacket. The slightly-Spanish vibe comes through in the citrus centerpieces, the fruity drinks, and the bright linens - with those colors popping on your tables, what other decor do you need? Hang cut paper garlands in doorways and line outdoor walkways and ledges with tealights or punched luminarias to create inexpensive atmosphere.

Happy Weekend + Radishes

We had better have some beautiful May flowers after the amount of rain we've had here in just the first few days of April... wishing for sunshine and warmer weather next week, but in the meantime, have a lovely weekend, friends!

Today I Love Silhouettes (In My Hand)

If you've loved yesterday and today's silhouettes as much as I have, and are now in the market for one or two of your own, I've got some resources for you!

First up, The Man himself, at least in the world of silhouettes. He's been featured in Martha Stewart Weddings, as well as in the wedding of M & C (featured here). Here he is cutting away at Katie and Ian's wedding:

And here is the link to his company, Cut Arts.

Besides Karl there are so many fabulous artisans out there making innovative silhouettes, like this one made from wood by Jenny Lee Fowler...

... or this one of patterned paper by Bitty Starr.

Or, if you'd prefer to go the DIY route, Mrs. Green Tea just wrote up a super-informative tutorial on making your own silhouettes and using them in graphic design projects. Check it out here.

Today I Love Silhouettes (In Action)

Even better than incorporating silhouettes into your paper suite {in my opinion} is incorporating them into your wedding day. Here are some of my favorite ways to do so.

Instead of a photo booth, hire a silhouette artist for cocktail hour entertainment.

Bonus? The completed works of art make fabulous reception decor strung on a line...

or hanging in a doorway.

Silhouettes look great in fresh, bright colors...

{escort cards and favor boxes}

{out-of-town guest bags and matchbooks for sparkler exit}

... as in the above wedding from Martha.

You could use them on your bar menu, like Mrs. Cupcake, to give some variety to your paper suite:

Silhouettes can accompany coffee and tea at the end of the night.

They can be classic and elegant, as in these table numbers...

{via Once Wed}

... or rustic and casual, as in this homemade gift wrap and these ceremony programs.

A collection of family silhouettes can adorn an entryway table, a guestbook signing station, a gift drop-off area...

{via Country Living}

... or a cake table.

{Better Homes & Gardens via Classic Bride}

They can be a simple accent on a menu.

Or they can completely define your celebration, as in Karrie and Brian's fabulous wedding.

Silhouettes were used in their save the dates and invitations,

their escort cards,

their programs,

and even their cookies!

{See more of this wedding on Style Me Pretty here and here and check out the business of this DIY bride here!}

Whew! If you can believe it, I've got even more silhouette inspiration for you tomorrow...

Today I Love Silhouettes (In Print)

One of the things I love most in the world is a good silhouette. Lately, they've been coming back in a big way, so I thought I would share some of my favorites. In this post, I've rounded up the best invitations, notes, and other paper ephemera. Hold on, it's a doozy...
