The hunt for the bridesmaid dress is on!

And mind you, this is me making that declaration. I have this vision in my head of what the maids should wear at Kate and Cormac's wedding, and I think Kate vaguely agrees with me, but I'm not exactly sure. I'm guessing the two other ladies will have some opinions, as well, so really, this is just me doing my own research.

Or trying to do research, as it turns out. The image in my head is of a navy and white patterned dress, knee length, in a summery, more casual sort of fabric. A fancy sundress. Or else something like this:

Cute, no? That's what I thought.

Well.

So far I have looked at the online sites of:

J. Crew
Ann Taylor
LOFT
Banana Republic
GAP
Old Navy
American Eagle
Coren Moore
Jenny Yoo
Melissa Sweet at POB
Thread Bridesmaid
Queue
Vineyard at POB
Anthropologie
BCBGMaxAzzria
and Shoshanna

Whew.

Unfortunately, I really didn't find anything, except for this frock at Old Navy:

Then I remembered Modcloth. And whoa. I didn't exactly hit the jackpot (as in, the perfect dress for the maids), but I sure did find some cute possibilities, and way too many dresses that I just plain want in my life. Here are some I found that could possibly work for the wedding:

A.

B.

C.

D.

E.

F.

G.

H.

I.

J.

So tell me, which Modcloth option is your favorite? Or do you like the Old Navy one better? Or do you have another source for cute summery dresses that I'm forgetting to check?

P.S. I'm thinking maybe the situation will improve once designers/companies debut their spring/summer lines. Thoughts?

  4. Shiny Orb (http://www.shinyorb.com) has a "search by style" kind of thing where you can filter dresses by length, neckline, and such. Most of the dresses there right now seem to be a bit more traditional than the dresses you are going for... but we'll be adding more lines soon. There's definitely a lot of people who want less traditional / more casual type of dress.

Also, we have co-shopping tool where you and your friends can log into a chat program and then shop together on the site in real time. We built this site because of all the frustrations the other co-founder (bride) and I (bridesmaid) had trying to agree on bridesmaid dresses for her wedding.

Just FYI in case our services might be useful for you! Thanks. -Jennifer

  5. Hmm. I like A, B, E, G, and H.

Um, do they make anything that might pass for a wedding dress? :)

  6. Some of the department store websites might be worth a glance through as well. Macy's, JC Penney, Lord and Taylor, Neiman Marcus, etc.

I definitely think you will have better luck with places like Ann Taylor for what you are looking for as spring approaches - but I completely understand not wanting to wait for that!

  9. Kim, you crack me up. A lot. I'm glad you like C, though, because I think that's my favorite!

  10. I definitely don't like F, I, or J. I like the bottom of C, but the top looks a little weird to me.

  11. C would be so cute with yellow accessories, though! Yellow ballet flats, or yellow headbands, or a yellow necklace, or yellow earrings, or a yellow hair flower... so many possibilities.

  12. I do like C best, I think, although would like to see it in person! Not so much F - although I do like the fact that you represented many styles!
How about Mother of the Bride dresses :)

  13. I know, it just looks a little weird to me, that's all. What about A with yellow accessories?
