Oriental rugs in interesting places

Lately I am yearning for a few oriental rugs. I'd like one for the kitchen, and one for the bathroom. Impractical, you say? I've heard they're actually extremely durable, easy to clean, and completely capable of handling water. I'm looking for one of the really old ones, one that's pretty thin, even threadbare, with faded colors.

See? So pretty and unexpected:

Anyone have any experience with using oriental rugs in unusual places?

  1. yay! so great. i love this idea too, in fact the top photo is my aunts house. i think they are totally practical, although an investment, and my aunt had been using them for as long as i can remember... so they must be functional. thanks for the wonderful surprise.

  2. Brenna, that's amazing! Your aunt must have a gorgeous house -- that's one of my favorite images of all time!
